I have a '78 F100 SWB, 2WD, Auto Pickup. That currently has a 351M/400 married to C6 transmission. My engine is about shot, so I have come across a steal of a deal! I have found a 85 Econoline XLT with a 351W (Freshly Rebuilt) married to a C6 Transmission (Freshly Rebuilt) for literally a still, my questions are these:
1. Easiest way to pull the engine and transmission out of the van?
2. Anyone interested in the van? Still in good shape, Powder Baby Blue color, no seats, but solid. May have some surface rust, haven't really looked at the body, but will have it tomorrow, can send pics...
3. Anyone interested in the old 351M/400 and C6 transmission. (stuff out of my truck, needs rebuilding, runs rough, still good, just cheaper for me to pick up this steal, rather than rebuild the engine)
Ok guys...I picked up the van this morning, drover her home, (drove like a top). Here are some pics, if anyone is interested in the body, I would be willing to let her go for a song and a dance...also if there are any parts that anyone needs, would be willing to discuss...
Body overall is in GOOD condition...tires are 16", front two are brand new, rear are 75% or better, all the glass is in great shape, any other questions please ask...
I am looking to start "preliminary prep-work" tomorrow afternoon. I am going to pull out the fronts of both of them...and hopefully get one step closer and make the "transplant" easier and faster Thursday and/or Friday.
The van radiator support is designed to be taken out, the truck one is not. On the truck you have enough room to fish the engine and trans in and out through the hood.
It's too bad you're so far away, I'd take the van or at least the windows out of it.
