Snowmobile Question
Longneck
You might try searching in this forum for snowmobile threads and posting to it rather than waiting around for the snowmobilers to show up.
There are also many snowmobile related web site's too.
The fuel pump(s) should also be inspected and cleaned, new rubber seals are good preventative maintenance.
The most difficult thing to inspect, and unfortunately the most expensive possible failure, is if the crank seals are dried out and allowing air into the crankcase. This will cause a complete melt down within a couple miles. Run a little pre-mix oil in the gas for the first half a tank, it's about all you can do short of a major overhaul.
Give me some details on the year and model of the sled. I should be able to answer just about any question you've got.

Fuel stabilizer is a great thing, it will clean out sludge and carbon on two strokes.
Ask the P.O if the engine was fogged and either the float bowls drained or fuel stabilizer was added to the tank before storage.
It's always a good idea to run lots of isopropyl gasline antifreeze, as the smallest amount of water can plug a main jet and vaporize a piston.
If your machine runs ok, I'd just change the fuel and oil filters, lube the clutches, grease the chassis and run it.....
Maybe avoid the high speed lake runs till you have run a few tanks of fuel through it.
I just got my sleds out after a very long time in storage (30 miles on one last year, 0 on the other) All I did for service was to clean the dust off and put on a coat of wax.
Of course they were serviced and stored properly with fuel stabilizer and everything lubed before storage.
I knew you would know about anything with gas running through its veins. The sled is nothing fancy, it is a 1992 Phazer Longtrack. Dual carbs, pretty light and responsive. I needed something to get me out and back when I go ice fishing. Maybe I will do a little work on it before I venture out to far though, he had it stored with out any fuel stabilizer so I am going to see if it gummed up the carbs this weekend.
