seems the power windows dont go up or down, on either side, but the power locks work, is this just a fuse? or what, i know some cars the power windows n locks are on same fuse, but not sure on the truck
The fuse would be the first place I check. Next I'd be checking for cut or skinned wiring. Not sure where I'd go from there. Have you ask the previous owner anything like how long have they not worked or if they know why they don't work?
It is unlikely both motors are bad but I suppose it is possible. I'm not too familiar with exactly how they work as far as the switches and wiring. I've never had trouble with either of my trucks with electric windows.
Actually, I believe these use a circuit breaker type fuse. Look for a spot in the fusebox marked as windows or power acc. There should be a silver box plugged into at least 2 locations (1 for windows, 1 for locks).
Both the power windows on my truck didn't work when the drivers window switch went out. Did you try using the passenger side switch? But the first thing I would do is check the fuses and make sure they are good, then trace the wires from the switch to under the dash to make sure no bare or broken wires are present.
Ive had ford power window motors freeze before. I just beat on 'em with a hammer and then they worked. But it would be weird to have both of them go out at once.
If you have a few things out I'd check the fuses. If the fuses are ok check the switch with a test light to see if there's power going to the window motor.
If you have power to the motor, then the power window motor may have gone bad. If your in a jamb and need to price out window motors here's a link to them on our site if you would like to check on pricing.
UPDATE**** windows work took door panels off and basicly the ground on the drivers side was off, and the pass side i took panel off n it started workin, dunno what i did but yey
