Expedition won't idle
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 04-May-02 AT 02:12 PM (EST)]I have a 99 Expedition 5.4L. I tried to start the engine and it would not idle. If I gave it gas it would run smoothly...but no idle. It is getting the big two, gas and spark...so what else could it be. On a whim, I disconnected the battery for a little while then reconnected it...cranked it up and it idled and ran fine. Problem fixed...or so I thought. A week went by and today it happened again. Disconnected the battery...reconnected...runs fine.

Expedition won't idle
The Problem you are having is caused by a bad IAC solenoid, it is responsible for keeping the engine running while the throttle plates are closed. ie: idle and decel, all you need to do is replace it and the problem will go away, this will not cause the Check engine light to come on so don't worry about that
