RedNeckRyder thanks for the offer but Michigan is a little farther than I would like to travel. If shipping was an option though I may be interested. I am not sure myself about shipping a cab. If anybody here knows maybe they will chime in.
I grew in in northern New England (Vermont) and my first real exposure to rust free vehicles was while living just outside Phoenix, AZ.
What people in the rust belt don't really appreciate is the southwestern trucks are completely rust free. It's not just the cab; it's the whole vehicle.
Next time your laying on your back under your truck and you break off a rusted bolt or a bunch of rust falls in your face, realize that guys who live in the desert southwest just don't have that experience.
I've had it both ways and for me, it's well worth the money to get a rust-free truck.
Check the "shipping a d60" thread that just happened recently. There is a shipping "broker" type thing listed there where you give the overall dimensions and get quotes from cheap shippers.
try telling that to my father in-law, he keeps trying to fix my old cab instead of buying a whole truck. i live in central new york and everything here is rusted. i'm looking to buy a two wheel drive truck to replace my rusted 78 body. in the long run i believe it ends up cheaper..
I'm trying to find a new cab myself, found a perfect one in the junker, he said $400 with everything I need from the interior, but what I don't need to leave in the bed of the donor truck, if I keep it neat he'll invite me to a bar-b-q, he's a friend lol, but it's still a business he runs, now all I need is the cash to get it and the time as well, I have the trailer, and the portable compressor, so I'm good till I've got the cash.
and Blackfoot, I was born/raised in Boston, I moved out here to Wyoming and was into a rust shock, parking my truck was embarrassing, a row of rust free cars, then this 1976 Ford, with rot holes identical on both sides the bed, passengers rear panel of cab and passengers fender, it didn't help it sat above EVERYTHING in the lot, I've learned not to care, these prissy things with their newer cars, well, while mines on the road, yours is in the junker 10 years from now.
Well I talked to the guy that wanted $1500 for the rust free cab. He would only come down to $1200. He sent me pictures through e-mail. The cab does not come with any interior. No dash, no seat, no door panels, no door locks/handles, and only the door glass. Everything else costs extra. Everything that could be removed was taken off to sell for parts. The sad thing is the truck was a complete rust free truck that only needed running gear and now it's in a million pieces. I guess my search for a rust free cab will continue.
I need a rust free bed in VA. I wonder if shipping charges could be split with a person on the East coast needing a cab from the same source..hint hint. Ohio would work as well...
uship.com is the name of a good site to check for shipping rates. And riderman, I'm in the same boat (need a good F150 long bed in WV) but I'm guessing a cab could be palletized but a bed might be harder...

HMMM, West By God, Virginia, is close to VA..., sorta...lol Mayby a west coast seller and you\me can make a deal on two beds shipped...
the mechanical stuff is my priority right now, though I found a nice (not rust free, but a lot better than mine) bed in NC if its still there when I get around to it, for $300. If I can't find one at that point I'll just put in patch panels. Mine won't be a show truck so it doesn't have to be 100%
Plus I'm spending so much on the performance part of it that I can't afford to be too picky on the appearance side!
