Door lock tries but won't go up or down

Is this the actuator issue?

When pressing the lock button, the left passenger door lock moves a little but won't go all the way up or all the way down.

It could be that there is too much friction between your lock and your plastic door trim. This happened on mine. I had to remove the trim and straighten the metal rod the lock (plastic) was attached to. Give that a try.

Door locks wont work

I am 99% sure that your problem is a bad door lock actuator. Do a search as there is a ton of information on this issue.

yes it more than likely your door lock actuator! i have JUST NOW got around to fixing mine n my 2000 F250. they've been like that for about a year now. i fixed all 4 on my F250, i fixed the rear hatch on my excursion (planning on doing the door locks as well to prevent future failure), and actually have a truck in the drive way right that i'm going to fix as well. ford quoted $89/actuator ($356+tax) for 4 doors, and $250 labor, $606+ tax ..... i told him i would "repair" the current actuators, for a fraction of that, and IF by some chance one was really broke i'd install it for WAY less as well........needless to say, it's dropped off ready for the surgery!

here's a quick link

Thanks, it was the actuator. I fixed the left passenger door and now I need to fix the back window.

you don't need to buy it. search on acuator and you find a long thread on how to fix it with a penny or tin foil.

do you think I could hurt anything spraying some WD-40 down near the actuator trying to fix this problem?

Fix what problem?, the OP needs to do the tin foil fix. The thermisters in the actuators wear out from constant heating and cooling and need to be removed at the expense of risking a motor burn out which is no problem unless some idiot lays on the door lock/unlock switch. Many many people have successfully done the fix including all 5 of mine.

Yup, just search and read, well worth a couple hours of free education via the folks on this thread vs forking out the cost for a new actuator when it's not necessary.

Just did my two read doors and lift gate. Works like a charm!
