Hey <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comffice:smarttags" /><st1:PersonName>Guy</st1:PersonName>s and Gals<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o> <o></o> My 85 5.0fi has recently decided it does not want to turn over. Put the engine tester on it and got code 87 and 18. 87 is a fuel pump circuit failure: <o></o> <o> </o> Fuel pump primary circuit failure. When the FP relay was activated by the <st1:stockticker>EEC</st1:stockticker>, voltage was not detected on the control circuit.<o></o> <o></o> Does that basicly mean i need to change the fuel pump or is in something in the wiring?..<o></o> <o></o> Thanks!<o></o>
THanks for the post. This is a new battery and Starter. I can check on the others. I does get power to turn but does not start. I does appear that is not getting fuel or spark. I will continue to check things out
He must mean the engine is cranking(turning over) but it won't start. The computer does not know if there is fuel pressure or not, but it does know if there is voltage or not going to the fuel pump circuit. I would find the fuel pump relay and see if it's clicking and working.
