Dynatrac combo kit purchase question

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
This is my first post and you folks have been very helpful as I have used other posts in the past to address any problems that I was dealing with. ….
<o></o>
I have a 2002 F250 7.3 with 88k miles on it with a 8 inch lift and run 37 inch tires The front end shop is telling me I need upper ball joints on both sides, center link, outer tie rods, adjustment tube at a cost of around $1800+. To date I have not had any problems with the wheel bearings, however felt if I need all the work above that “maybe” I spend the extra monies and get the Dynarac Ford combo kit and service the bearings as well. The cost of this option is about $3,900 + including parts and labor. Is it worth spending that type of money on a truck this old and that many miles on it? The truck is virtually a street queen that I use for business and frequent runs to Baja. The serviceable bearings would be a plus in Baja as I would be able to get them serviced easier then the factory set up. Any thoughts would be appreciated?

First make sure you actually need all that stuff. It is not that hard to check. First jack up one side of the front end and grab the wheel top and bottom and try to move the wheel back and forth. If there is movement you need ball joints and you might as well do upper and lower while you are in there. With both wheels on the ground have someone tuen the wheel back and forth while you are looking at the steering linkage movement in relation with the tire movement. There should not be much(if any) play in the linkage. you should be able to see what needs replacing. the dynatrac kit is nice but for mostly a street truck our front ends are fairly stout, except maybe the hubs, which you can easily replace with some warn manuals. I don`t know of many people on this site that have done this conversion but somebody might chime in or you could do a search. Roy
