1990 F-150 2X4 E4OD 3.73 limited slip 38,000 original miles!
All factory exhaust wanted to remove cats and then go with a 3" pipe out to the factory location, for muffler I thought about the DynoMax muffler. Do not like how those flowmasters sound especially on a friends nissan v-6, sounds like a moped!
I have a Dynomax cat-back with a Super Turbo muffler and it has a deep sound but is not overpowering. I just gutted the first cat recently and it got louder, so with no cats that should give you a good deep rumble that's not extremely loud. If you want something louder, you can go with a Dynomax Ultra Flow. They are supposed to outflow Borla, Flowmaster, Gibson, and Edelbrock.
best thing to do is remove the 2nd and run 2.5" pipe. i did this with a flow 40 series and it made a nice improvment and sound is nice. dont need anything over 2.5" pipe on a stock 300...
What were the model #'s of the catback and muffler you used? What size exhaust pipe did you run? I looked on the website but and on the PDF files and could not find any one for a 1990 F-150 300.

There is one on the Ford PDF on Dynomax's website for a 1987-96 6, 8 F150/250 w/4.9L (300), 5.0L (302), P/N 44291
Reg. Cab, Short Bed (116"), Reg. Cab, 44293 2
Long Bed (133"), Ext. Cab, Short Bed
Exits on Passenger Side
2.5 inch inlet, 2.25 inch out
I'm not exactly sure what the specifics are on the exhaust I have, as it was given to me for my 16th birthday. The 300 should be the same p/n as the 5.0, and 5.8 for your year. The kit I have I think is 2 1/2" from cat to muffler, and dual 2 1/4" tail pipes that exit in the stock location. I think those kits are the only ones for the 87-96 trucks on the pdf. I have the super turbo because my dad didn't want my truck to be that loud. It gives a good deep sound but isn't loud enough to get annoying. I did notice a slight increase in volume since i got rid of the plugged up front cat.
