I was wondering if any of the rear sliders from a later model ford truck would fit my 78 F250 ? And also do they take a different weather seal do to the thickness of the glass being thicker then the aluminum frame of the sliders ? thanks jeff
Marty,
are you possitive? I would like to know for absolute sure because I have an extra sliding window out of a 76 and my fathers 85 truck has a shattered rear window where some idiot got BB happy. it looked like the newer truck had squarer corners so I didn't even bother getting out a tape measure, but if this really is a interchangeable item I would like to know. the only reason I havn't tried it is I didn't want to get halfway and find out that I couldn't get the weatherstrip to fit both. right now the fake tint is holding the glass togather and I didn't want to disturb it if the windows wouldn't swap out.
yes the later windows fit for sure. the factory sliders in the 80's have a special gasket and you must use that gasket. most aftermarket and earlier sliders use the stock gasket for flat glass. i put a window from an 86 in my 77. it is kind of interesting getting the gasket in as the later unit is larger and sticks out a little but this was done by ford to allow a larger opening.
