I mentioned the shop because I'm thinking that we could maybe relay it to her, or maybe she could come out here and it could be a shop project. Either way, Shelton is closer to Elk than Vancouver. Hell, I asked for $300- but I could offer half of that to OFJ for gas to run it out there. BTW, it also has a stock 4bbl intake manifold, I forgot to mention.

The differences between a 360 and a 390 are all internal, outside they are identical. Starters, alternators, water pumps, exhaust parts, intake manifolds, all fit either one (and almost all other FE motors as well). But your truck will feel the difference!

There are a lot of Displacement sizes in the FE engine family.
This should get you started on an education FE & FT Big Block V8 (332, 352, 360, 390, 406, 410, 427, 428) - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
My shop could be a temporary place for the engine to be in the middle of transit and I may be able to haul it over later in the year but unless someone has Thousands to pay me I will not build an FE motor. Quality parts are too difficult to find and too expensive when you do find them, a "simple" rebuild could be done cheap but it's not something I'd do.
If you really wanted to build one I would get the rotating assembly out of the largest FT engine you can get your hands on and have the crank snout turned down. FT cranks are fully forged, cross drilled and usually Brinell tested.
