restarting "bleeding oil" new ?

My oil cooler blew a seal( named truck "the walrus") and I've been busy at work and haven't been able to work on truck yet. talked to guy at dealer and he said the oil cooler can be taken out through the front w/out jacking the motor up and w/out unbolting the back end(next to filter) any thoughts? anybody done it this way?

When I did the cooler on my 90 I talked to my friend who is a mechanic at the Ford store here. He suggested to remove the exhaust manifold. I did and it was very easy to remove the cooler. Access to the bolts on the cooler was easy, and the cooler slid out the top with no problems. Only down side needed to get a new exhaust gasket.

Here is a pic of the oil cooler out where you can see it. It looks like you would have to remone the water neck, but it might just work, of course the powersteering pump is not on this engine either.

got her done, had to take the cooler out the back way. When the instructions say "give it a good twist to get it apart" they should say "twist it like king kong pulling a t-rex's head off" Thanks for the pic, star
put it all back together and cranked it, no leaks, but wouldn't start, low batteries so I put it on a charger and it just wouldn't charge. Had to wait till sun went down to realize parking lights on whole time. duh
