couldn't find this in a search. I'm looking for something different in my exhaust. I want my exhaust to be quiet as possible. I do not want to really sacrifice power. I have a stock 95 5.0 2wd ls 3.31 supercab. I come and go early morning/late at night. I don't like anyone to know I am coming and going. Nor, do I want to wake anyone up. Also, I enjoy music. I want to hear my stereo. It is worthless to have any type of sound system with an exhaust system or any type of off road tires That create noise. Don't get me wrong, Autos make music of their own; but I want to be able to choose when and what I want to listen to without the drone of an exhaust ruining the rhythym and timbre of what I happen to be listening to. As an amateur musician, and having some audiophile knowledge; I guess I don't understand why so many people artificially inflate their bass? Or even better yet; turn up their stereos with dirty power that is so distorting that it has no musical value. All the while having some loud exhaust system! You really can't have it both ways. To each his/her own I guess? Sometimes I think that people do this to be heard on purpose, or just to be annoying. Kind of a cry for attention
Anyway: What is the best setup on a truck that can run on "stealth" mode? Thank You in advance. Cost is important as well. As in low cost. Thank You in advance.
I won't be much help for exhaust recommendations , but I'm assuming you have already put dynamat in your truck? It helped quite a bit in my truck, even though I don't listen to the stereo often. Putting dynamat down cut down on the road and tire noise a lot..now all I hear is the air rushing around my moving brick.
Edit: Sitting in traffic with someone within 5 car lengths of you blasting bass so loud that you can feel it is pretty damn annoying...
well honestly there are ways of having your cake and eating it too meaning having the ability to hear your stereo without the drone of exhaust in your ears and having a nice sounding exhaust system. LMC Truck Parts - Page 90 it will deaden the sound in the truck and help insulate it so it is easier to heat and cool. I would pull all the paneling and dash and seats and carpet and install this with new weather stripping on the doors
correction i had an exhaust leak which i knew about some dummy deleted the air pipe on the back of the motor without blocking the head ports so exhaust was just coming out of the back of the heads making my firewall black lol so i blocked that off and put a new glasspack on when i took the motor from my single cab and put it in my supercab. I am planning on getting a set of long tube headers and a high flow cat or some shorty headers and a new high flow y pipe with high flow cat
Raven is so quiet, I forget she is even talking to me...I would like liven her up a bit, but not go nutz on the exhaust department...Mabe lose the 30 gallon muffler...
Hey Dan, lose the 30 lb muffler and replace it with a 32'' Thrush glass pack. Your truck won't be loud at all but she will growl.
If you want a more permenant solution, Magnaflow sounds really good. That's what I have on the Escape and while it's not LOUD, it sounds really really nice.
First off, thanks for respecting your neighbors right to not having to listen to obnoxious exhaust noise.
Magna Flow and DynoMax make some nice quiet OEM style mufflers for your truck.
I work Graveyard shift.........I would love to shoot my neighbors loud Chevy Silverado.
LMAO i dont think i would ever go to that kinda extreme IF i ever wanted my truck to be quite, but i look for more volume, partially because my neighbors are arseholes and rev their loud truck at 3:30 in the morning
