hi all need some help with a 66 352 4v stock in a galaxie500 with a crus o matic im looken for torqu not hp the only thing is i dont have alot of cash so any help would be welcomed oh and the old car runs really well itll one wheel peel all day long
So, what tricks would be cheap? Headers I suppose, as FE motors have pretty poor exhaust manifolds.
A different intake & carb, you can find people fighting about what's best in other threads here, and you'll find many recommend the stocker. If you got it in aluminum, that would be 50 lbs off the front end....
Cam, but then that starts to run money.
Electronic ignition, later Ford or aftermarket. A small help, mostly in reduced fiddling and more consistent running.
Standard tune and carb rebuild if needed.
You have factory dual exhaust, right?
390 or 428 crank and a few other select parts will get you a 380/390/400/410 depending on stock or .050 overbore....
i would rather not stroke it if any thing i was thinken about a petronex igntor some long tube headers and ive been told a rv or camper stile cam and a holloy 700cfm carb. ive got a set of 360 truck heads wonder if they would make more power
Add Traction Lock and gearing with some of the above mentioned mods. Will keep both tires planted and give a better launch depending on what ratio you select. Those 9" rears are easy as heck to upgrade. Find a good used Traction Lock unit, install new clutches, new ring and pinion with bearings and out the door you go smoking both rear tires. Bruce

You probably don't need to go to a 700 cfm carb, 600 is big enough and will run cleaner on the low end methinks.
The ignition and headers would be a big help.
The 360 truck heads are probably D2TE heads--probably very similar to the heads you have, but with hardened seats.
what would be a good gear to use ill want to drive the car on the weekends and stuff through town and stuff no long trips but when i nail it i want it to go
Well, your factory gears are probably in the low 3:00's. Mustang drag pack gears are like 4:10 or 4:30 to 1. So, pick something in between for cruising and play. Say 3.73:1 or 3.80:1 ratio. Bruce
