hey guys... i was asked by my boss at work to look at his wifes expedition because the wipers arent working. I was wondering what i need to look for other than fuses. Are there relays? Do the motors have a habit of going out? and stuff like that any advice is welcome. I do not want to get there and look like an idiot I want to try anything and everything. Im planning on bringing a multimeter and test the connections but i may need diagrams or locations as im not familar with these fords. Thanks for the advice
The multi-function switch has been a source of problems for anything controlled by it. Try playing with that as sometimes they will work intermittently if you mess with it. If that is the problem then the switch will need to be replaced.
ok thanks. how would you go about testing that though? do you pull off the covers to the column or is there a way to take it off and get a voltage meter to it?
If you have checked all fuses and relays and want to check the switch, you could check it with a meter once you remove it. What year are you working on?
just in case this happens, and this is a BIG just, if you go through everything and cant figure out why its still not working, fond out if the radio has been replaced by an aftermarket unit, and if so, see if its on the power supply its supposed to be on. my sister had this problem with her truck and her husband couldnt figure it out for 3 weeks. i came over to help him with it and in 20 min i located the problem. the guy who installed the radio used the power supply wire for the wipers and didnt realize it.
