engine revs high

Hey everyone, I've searched the forums, and I've seen a lot that mention this problem, but nothing specific about fixing it. I've gat a 00' f250 with 100k miles with the v10. Yesterday morning (prob 25 degrees out) I went to start it to warm up, and it hesitated starting. Once I got it started, it wouldn't rev below 2k rmp. If I steped on the throttle it would sticl at 3k and slowly come down. Even after it was warm, it stays at 2k rpm. It even pulls against the brakes (though the tranny pulls the revs down to around 11-1200 rpm. I had someone tell me its a vacuum leak, but everything alse works fine (ac switches between zones fast, doesn't switch under load etc) Is there soemthing specific?

One of the first things I would check is the IAC. Could try and clean it to see if it makes a difference instead of just throwing on a new part.

Its behind the throttle body.

Here is a replacement precedure and pics to replace the IAC. 2003 Ford F250 4x4 - V10 IAC

You can also do a serch in the Modular V10 forum for "IAC" that will bring up 17 pages of threads related to the IAC.

Also check for any possible vaccum leaks, broken hoses and etc. There is also a plug on the stock airbox that can come out sometimes and leak unmetered air into the airbox.

I'm with DKF. A dirty IAC (Idle Air Control Valve) is the most likely culprit.

Do some searching on how to remove and clean (or get some help from someone who knows how).

If that doesn't fix it, come on back. But I give it a 75% chance of being IAC.
