I have had this problem that has been tearing my mind apart.
The truck has power steering, that doesn't seem to want to work, at first it did nothing, and now, it still does nothing, in between, I filled the power steering reservoir and it worked, then it started only working slightly and it was only when turning the wheel to the right, and it was at the point where I'd be turning right, and it wouldnt be working, I'm putting all my weight into keeping it turned, and then it would work, throwing me around the cab.
I assume a leak, but don't know where or how to find where, I'm contemplating replacing the lines and pump, then flushing out the steering box itself.

If you have to keep adding fluid, you have a leak somewhere in the system. If the steering wheel is hard to turn, it's a problem with the pump and/or the steering box.
I agree with Bill, but had a weird one once. I had a 75 F100 that I hadn't driven in several months, and needed it for some reason. I took off and it took everything I had to turn it. I even twisted the rag joint off. I was going to replace the steering box, but when I unhooked the pitman arm the box turned easy. I had a king pin frozen up.
wyo, if you want, i can get the pump and whatnot with the other parts. and be sure to check and be sure you have no air in your lines. when you get air in there, things can get hectic...
Get some engine degreaser. Spray the snot out of the area. Wash it off. You can't find a leak when every part is covered in grease. Then I would bleed/flush the power steering fluid. This is the cheapest thing.
Bill, trey, both are good points I failed to look into, I wish I could think straight......either way, I'm gonna do the best I can, Trey, I omitted a pump for a reason, with this kind of stuff, I prefer new over used.....I'll keep you posted though.
I"m trying to get things sorted out, I'm going to be getting a new set of headers for my truck ASAP, I broke a bolt off, and I used almost a full can of PB Blaster and WD40 to try and shake em loose.
sounds good bud. keep it up. also, be SURE to put some lucas powersteerin stop leak in it. unless your stuff is tore all to hell, it will eliminate the hard spots, tighten up some slack, and quiet these noisy @$$ ford pumps down a bit.

I heard those stop leaks were bad for your pump. Is the Lucas a different deal?
