Intake manifold

I had a guy (we'll call him "********") do an engine swap on my 2002 4.6 to a 2003 5.4. ******** switched out the 4.6 cast alum. intake manifold with the 5.4 plastic manifold because he said it was more durable. Although it bolts up, there is a sensor and connector on the 4.6 wire harness and manifold but the 5.4 manifold does not this sensor or connector. Can anyone tell me why this is? Does the 5.4 need this? The plastic 5.4 manifold needs to be used on this engine because the 4.6 manifold isn't lining up completely. HELP!!!!

"********" as you call him did exactly what he should have. A 4.6L intake WILL NOT mate to a 5.4L engine-the deck height of the engine makes the cylinders heads sit farther apart. I'll bet your "sensor" that you're referring to is at the front of the engine right around the alternator, and would be for the 4.6L's variable intake volume control, which the 5.4L does not have or need.
You really need a PCM retune for the 5.4l to function at 100% in your truck.

You misunderstood...******** installed the 4.6 manifold onto the 5.4 engine and it didn't mate right. I had to find a 5.4 manifold and I discovered there was this pigtail connector on my 4.6 harness that didn't have a home now.

I had Bill @ PHP write 5.4 stock and performance tunes to replace the 4.6.

I had to take my truck back from Numbuts before he finished because it became clear to me that he didn't have a clue about what he was doing. He switched out other parts too...oil pan, intake manifold, exhaust manifolds. By the way, are the 4.6 exhaust manifolds going to work with the 5.4?

No kidding it won't fit right.
The 4.6L exhaust manifolds are fine-the exhaust ports are identical between the two.Te 5.4L's are just ever so slightly taller in finished mounting height due to the taller block height.

OMG ******** is right!!
It's a good thing you got your truck out of there.

Yeah the 4.6 exhaust manifolds will work,,just might need to add a short piece of pipe to the exhaust to get it to ling up right.

I'm glad I know the exhaust manifolds will work because they are already connected to the exhaust and I didn't want to have to deal with that as well.
Thanks guys for your help.
