An odd problem I've never seen before: I disengage the child lock on one of my rear doors, then close the door. After arriving at our destination, my adult passenger cannot open the door from the inside and I discover the child lock has been engaged. What in the world is going on here? I hate to put a strip of duck tape over it, but is there something making it engage? What is the fix for this embarrassing problem? My Adult passengers are getting a complex! LOL
I'm getting the same problem. Fortunately, my son is 8 and still uses a booster seat.
Without researching this, I would guess it the door lock actuator. When you lock/unlock the doors, it sounds like it's trying several times to lock/unlock the door.
VERY common problem, there have been many threads addressing this; but to paraphrase, the actuator is activated by several things. The vibration from the vehicle, the vibration from the door shutting, and using the door handles. The problem will not go away by itself.
There are several fixes people have used from glue, to extra screws to force the switch to stay up. I dissasembled the door panel and adjusted the actuating rods until they would stop latching the child lock. It took a couple hours but it worked out great and I can still use the child locks if I want. The screws are a semi permanent making it difficult to use the locks again. Either way you decide will probably be fine.

Good luck.
