Like many others SD XLT owners I have been looking into adding an overhead console and have been trying to find answers to questions like; Is the wiring already installed under the headliner? What about the remote sensors? My local service department has said they believe the wiring is there as Ford wires all their trucks the same way. I was wondering if anyone in this awesome forum actually works for Ford, or knows someone who does and could answer all our questions. Does "Ford" have an official tech support web page or hotline, and if so has anyone used it. I love hearing from all the experienced SD owners, now if we could unoffically add an offical Ford Mech I think many more questions could be anwered.
I wish my magic 8 ball had more answers floating around in it.
They used my truck for the 6.8L V10 and its currently in production. basically they need your truck for about two weeks to design & dyno test the intake. i'm not trying to promote the product yet because i don't have it on the truck yet, but if it could benefit someone here ,,,free is always good!!!!
Here at AEM we are looking to expand our line of Brute Force Intakes.
At this time we are looking for a
99-01 Ford Superduty 5.4L V8

well as far as i can tell there are no wires for the factory overhead. i installed an aftermarket overhead and found NO wires up there. the factory builds each truck to its order.
i bought a rearview mirror with dig temp and compass. and i don't want to see my mpg (DEPRESSING)
Thanks to all for the info. I'm begining to think that my idea of adding the overhead console is going to end up being a lot more complex and Expensive than intially anticipated.
BADFORD- you mentioned adding the mirror with electronics. I have considered that option as well. Did you wire it in yourself? If so, how difficult was it?
well, the mirror i purchased was made by MITO CORP. it has a simple wire harness to hook up and a temp sensor (i mounted in the grill). took about an hour to remove the factory plastic to hide wires and wire up. if you have a 12volt tester and know how to use it then you will have no probs.
Badford. awesome pics of the console. You have just inspired another to do roughly the same. Which company did you use for the carbon fiber? I have seen several on the market but with the additional pieces that you have I really think it is great.
