5 speed question

5 speed question
Which 5 speed did ford use in the 2000 Super Duty, the heavy duty ZF or the Mazda? If its the ZF then what is the first gear ratio? I know the 6 speed was a heavy duty trans but never heard much about the 5

They used the ZF 5 on the superduties and it is a heavy duty trans.
ZF S5-42 Close Ratio:
R: 3.79
1: 4.14
2: 2.37
3: 1.42
4: 1.00
5: 0.77
ZF S5-42 Wide Ratio:
R: 5.24
1: 5.72
2: 2.94
3: 1.61
4: 1.00
5: 0.76
As far as I know the ZF5 is basically the same trans as the 6 speed -1 gear. I have wide range on my truck and lets just say those are some less than ideal gear ratios. You actually have more of a 3 speed with overdrive and low.
