Mazda makes the 5 speed used in the F-150's, ZF makes the heavy duty 5 speed. There were two sets of ratios in the ZF, but I don't know how to tell which you have.
That is why I specified those motors, bell housing is the same pattern (the bell cannot be removed) can't outright answer on any changes beyond that for certain. If the trans came out of a 150, it may still be a Mazda trans rather than the ZF.
yeah a buddy of mine has one that came out of a F150 with a 300 6 do i have to change anything? bellhousing?? change any mounts or anything?
99% chance a f150 has the Mazda tranny. Someone on here a long time ago said there was one year where the f150 could be ordered with the zf. On both of these 5 speeds, the bellhousing is made into the tranny. So you have to find the correct tranny to fit your engine, and it has to have a hydraulic clutch.
It's about the $$$$ or giving engineers too much authority.
Engineers should be required to work on their "stuff" before the company puts it out to market. Maybe it will eliminate so much "junk" being dumped on the public.
