I'd avoid the 347, most of those stroker kits use very short compression height pistons that puts the oil rings through the piston pin hole. They are not known for a long life on the street.
The 351 will make a good deal more torque, and that's what's needed in a truck or van. The difference between that and the 302 will be night and day just in their stock form. Aftermarket aluminum heads really help the 351w as well since the stock ports are pretty restrictive.
Ok checked on alldata and from what I can tell is they used the 302 or 5.0L engines from 1996-2001. With the later yr exploder using EFI then went to SFI. Alldata also listed something about vin P SFI and vin P EFI. Not sure but could be the exploders with the gt-40 style heads. I won't be able to find out till monday when my dealer is open and I can chat with my parts guy. While on alldata i answered my ? about 5.8L = 351w. whats the difference with the cleveland? Thanks for letting me know that the 351 stock heads are junk. Are all the 351 heads on fords junk or should i look for a particlure casting # thats better than the others?
IF you're on a budget the GT-40 heads will work fine. The 1995 Cobra R Mustang used these heads with a 351 and made 300+ HP. The first Gen. Lighting PU used these heads as well.
