While working on the hubs and front yesterday I noticed the upper ball joints have zerks in them. I tried to get my grease gun in there but didn't have enough room to get at it from the top, and the hose was too thick to slide up through the Ujoint and hit it.
swung by the parts store this morning and their suggestion was one of the needle injectors to pierce the boot and fill it that way.
has anyone found an easier way? I did a search and found nothing good expect that you might be able to swap for a 90 degree fitting, if it's short enough not to hit the Ujoint.
never seen one with a straight zerk on the upper. I would also suggest cranking it to the side and moving it forward in small incriments. Not sure what other options are possible as I also am having a hard time visualizing the area at my desk.
oooh... don't pierce the boot! Then water can get in there and start wreaking havoc.
The Moogs I put on mine come with a 90deg fittings and a plugs. Some folks have ground the 90deg fitting slightly to clear the u-joint. I've always just swapped out the plug for the 90deg fitting, then put the plug back.
So, the 90deg fitting should do the trick. I wouldn't pierce the boot though!
Yeah, not sure if the upper is stock or not. Don't think turning the wheel changes thing - but I'll check tomorrow.
Can I remove the zerk in there and swap in a 90 while it's all in the truck?
I was hesitant about piercing it.

I don't believe any OEM were greaseable and yes you should be able to change zerk fitting with out any disassembly.
you should be able to change it . i use this older way older as it was my grandfathers. Im guessing 70's grease gun that is meant to use only small tubes . The hose on it is flexible and skinny works well for that and my garden tractor
thanks bigbug - I'll see if I can find one of those adapters. looks like harborfright has them for less than $2.
if not may try to swap in a 90 degree zerk.
I've got two grease guns, a new, large one, and an older smaller one - both with a flex hose on the end and neither would get up there.
