Fellas,
My GPC/relay was working fine and still starts the truck like normal, but maybe only 85% of the time. I jumped the relay the other day because it wasnt responding, ran power from power supply post to the adjacent small post and it fundtioned like normal. Then i got in the truck and it responded and started the truck like normal. It is almost like it is sticking sometimes and not other times. With this whole process, i have also noticed that when the high idle shuts off, it will click very rapidly like a shorted relay for about three seconds and then it is normal. It seems to be linked to the high idle because it hasnt done it when warm. Thoughts?
I am going to pick up a new relay tomorrow and I will post the news. Might just find the issue but each gp is fine through test light and ohm checks. Either a wire gone south or the relay. Even ford 7.3 tech had no clue.
Well as promised, it is definitely cured now with the new Relay. I opted for a heavier duty one that was 33 bucks but it was rated above the cheapies and this one has a 12 month warranty against failure. The clicking is way different now, it is quieter and a steady but timed sequence. The other one was all over the place. I am confident in the fault being the relay but i dont know why it was starting the vehicle and yet malfunctioning. Just to be sure, i took it out, cleaned every connection with my dremel, including the truck ground on the intake manifold and it still sucked bad. Took it all back out and replaced the relay, works like new. whatever that is, i wouldnt know! hahaha. It is an international part and might just very well be original. hahah
haha no that is why i have my metal blade for my dremel tool, i am going to cut it open to find the failure. Very strange to me, i think it is old and corroded inside but we will soon know for sure.
