Transmission Problem :-(
On way home from work last week, I noticed that there was a delay in shifting into 3rd gear, then after coming to a stop (at some traffic lights) whe pulling away it would not change out of 1st gear, so was revving very high.
So pulled over, and put transmission into park. Then into drive and nothing, no attempt to pull or anything, also the same with reverse, 1 and 2. I also tried 4x4 high and low and then into gear but nothing. As if the transmission hadn't sensed that the selector had been moved.
Got recovered to home, after the vehicle was rolled back off the lorry, started engine and car went into drive, and then reverse, then nothing again.
Couple of days later checked the fluid level and it was quite low, so topped up to required level (took about 1 litre), drove round the block and was fine. Came back to a stop , then no gears again.
Switched off and restarted and then had gears briefly (long enough to park) then nothing.
Another point to mention is that it was due for a intake manifold gasket replacement as I was getting lean codes, so the check engine light was on. Upon checking the codes there was also a P1762 code (which I've now found out is transmission problems...bit late now
)A little more diggin shows the P1762 code could be due to 'overdrive band'.
My question is if this was the problem, do the symptoms described sounds like that issue, or could it possibly be some kind of sensor?
And to top it all off, I'd just brought a Haynes Repair Manual for the Ex...maybe I jinxed it.
