You gotta use a bit of imagination here, but picture this 9' box on my '59 F350, then slide that 10' alaskan camper into it. We're planning a 2 week road trip in it next summer. Actually, that alaskan has been sold because we have another one from the late 50's with a maple interior and cooler badging and a better layout inside that will go in the '59. I think I can find a picture of the older one when it was mounted in my '53 9' flareside. Gotta do that Plymouth to Puget Sound run one day. All my family lives right near Plymout Ma, and I live on an island in Puget Sound. I was born in Seattle in'53 and have done that long road trip back to Ma. many times, but I didn't know there was an historical route!
In front of the old Alaskan is the old Washingtonian, and as fate would have it.... next to Trooper the 1/2 springer, 1/2 border collie is my fiance, Ravin, who was born on Vashon Island. They had cows, not goats........but she's just a punk kid born there after you left in '57. Did I tell you she taught me how to weld?
Here's the old Alaskan on the 53 in the UP position. They are really heavy.
Nearly bought an Alaskan for my 56F250. It needed some fixing,so bowed out.
Just got some directions to build a camper-shell from an old book showing how it would be built for a 1956.
Plan on maybe building 2.

My sister's best pal lives on a farm on Vashon Island. She's actor Joseph Cotton's granddaughter, but I cannot recall her name.
I've been to WA 6 times since 1947, but haven't gone back to Vashon.
Mom snapped a pic of me feeding the goats that "I Buzzard Bait" would love to see, but no way. Don't need any more 'fuel' to add to the fire.
Bought another camper shell yesterday like I had when I started this thread except that this one is for a regular bed and not a stepside. It won't fit our F1s nor the F2/3s, but it should fit the later trucks starting with the fridges. This shell, like the first I had, was made in my home town. I googled their location and the building still stands. It's currently occupied by a business that sells metal.
I have no plans on keeping this shell since I have panel trucks. I just saved it from being made into Coke cans.
