Ok, this is getting ridiculous. This is my 4th slave cylinder on this truck. I hate autozone parts, but o'reillys isnt much better. I think I am going to check NAPA. G/F and I are 2 hours from home picking up a bumper for her Tacoma. Just as I pull in and engage the clutch...it falls to the damn floor. I just filled up the master with brake fluid, loaded the bumper and pushed to clutch to the floor. I started it in first gear. Yes we made it home. I only use my clutch for taking off anyway, I don't use it for downshifting or shifting. I am so tired of changing this thing. It always pops on the top side too, spraying the bottom of the cab.
What causes this and how can I fix it? Is there something besides plastic? This is ridiculous.
What year of truck are you driving? My brother had a 94 that was doing this, and the fix was going to an older style system, such as a 90. Had to replace the master, slave and line as they all were different. I don't remember what the cause was but this was the fix, as recomended by the local Ford service manager.
Mine is a 93 what is involved with this? I just called a local gear shop and they told me that ford does not make a metal slave cylinder. I don't understand why this is happening, I will fix it somehow. Just need to learn what to do.
As far as I know the metal slave cylinders went out in the early sixties, when hydraulic clutches went out of style. When they came back in use they are all plastic. Your problem is excessive it makes me wonder if there is something binding, I know there is a wear spec limit on the fork itself, but I don't know what it is or how to check it.
Not splitting, always the same spot. Just behind the cable on the top of the cylinder. Just a pinhole, can't see it very clearly unless you really look at it. Can't tell other than that. Tiny tiny pinhole. This one is exactly the same as the others.
Star, any suggestions as to where I might find out about those specs? I really want/need this fixed....LOL It is aggravating to turn the truck off at a stop light, put it in first, push in the clutch, turn the key and then take off. LOL I only done this to get it home, twice. It is parked right now, I don't want to make more work for myself.
But I did get home w/o a clutch...LOL I was told I couldn't do it.....HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA GAWD I LOVE STANDARDS! LOL
I'm not sure what woild be causing a pinhole. The only one I ever had break exploded and sent parts out from under the pickup at a red light. The specs are supposedly in fords spec sheet, no idea how to get ahold of them. Some one on obn had them, maybe towcat.
i have had 3 break this week. 2 from advanced 1 from autozone. I have my new parts guy finding me one made in america tomorrow. my truck is a 94 250 with a zf5. I have a 14 in southbend and i figure thats the reason they are blowing?
