Okay, so my truck won't start. The starter works and the engine cranks. But my instrument panel shows no lights and the engine won't start. Any ideas? Any help would be appreciated.
2nd, do you have the WTS start light come on
3rd, if you turn the key on, can you drop under the drivers seat and listen for the fuel pump
4th whats the weather where you are at?
I can't check for any lights on the instrument cluster. Nothing works on it. The weather is in the upper 50's. Mods: BD X-Monitor and cool down timer were installed today. CFM+ Intake and a KN FIPK installed last week. It worked fine after the X-Monitor was installed, but it worked for only a few minutes after the Cool Down Timer was installed. I hd them uninstall it, but still doesn't work. I will go check fuse #30 and listen for the fuel pump.
What year is your truck? Does the WTS light come on with the key? Are you saying you cannot hear the fuel pump come on with the key? Why did you install the K&N? Have you not read about the dusted turbos and engines behind a K&N on here?
Not to interupt Chris, but can you tell me about the cool down mod and how they did this. I have looked up the XD monitor and that should be a easy install with out any side effects, except for maybe blowing a fuse or two. But what concerns me is how they do the cool down mod??
The cool down mod was installed earlier. They installed it by posi-taping the wires into some iginition wires, a brake wire, and something else. Then it plugs into the X-monitor. I didn't read anything on here about K&N before I put it on. And absolutely no lights come on in the instrument cluster. So no WTS light comes on. And no fuel pump when I turn the key to on or start. I have looked at all the fuses and they are all good. I am so lost on this.
If you have no dash lights, you either have one or more blown fuses, or a short that's not letting the PCM power up. Your headlights still work, right? Turn the key on and test all the fuses with a test light or meter, even the funny shaped fuses.
If all that checks out, pop the hood and start wiggling wiring harnesses while the key is still on. If you hear the fuel pump and stuff come on when you wiggle a harness, start looking for a chaffed wire in that harness.
You keep reminding me of this, yet I keep forgetting,, what year is it the WTS light is no longer a PCM symptom??
I don't remember. Maybe 105? The owners manual isn't too clear. I'll have to look through the diagrams and see. You think with me owning an 02 I would know which fuse to watch.
Okay, so I went back out to the truck this morning. It was a fuse. I blew fuse 116. It's the ignition and apparently the instrument cluster is also on that circuit. All is well with the truck now. Thanks for the help guys.
