Cracked Transmission. Need help!!

I have A 1999 WITH A 6.8L V10. Bought it 2 months ago took it to the beach and returned with no transmission fluid. when they took it apart we found that the extension in between the transmission and the transfer case had been JV welded and it had let out all the transmission fluid and burned the tranny. I got a used transmission from a junkyard put it in the truck and got stranded at the beach. The oil leaked out through what appeared to be a loose screw. towed it to the shop when they took apart the oil pan it turned out it was fractured. they ttok the tranmission down it turned out to be fractured all the way around. The only thing holding it up was the oil pan. This time it was the actual transmission that was cracked not the extension. I have to get another one but I dont want to put it in until i find what the cause was. Any Ideas???

Just a total guess here, but sounds like it's not properly supported???? This is worth a bump anyway.

do you think the wrong tranny mount or crossmember could be the problem,Gerry

I have heard of transmission cases breaking if you have a solid transmission mount but still have rubber engine mounts. Make sure all mounts are rubber or all are solid.
