Alright, so i have a 1999 Ranger XLT manual. Ive done a lot of work on it and so far its not paying off. I found out that my EGR was leaking causing a high idle, so i decided to change that along with all the wires and all the spark plugs. For about 2 days my idle seemed to be down and it wasnt as "rough". Then i started driving on the highway and my check engine light comes on , its a code i saw once before , and it was there even before changing my EGR, Its P-0133 Bank 1 sensor 1 oxygen sensor slow responce. When i checked the pattern of the oxygen sensor on an oscilliscope, it was fluctuating as it should. So i really dont understand, What could be causing a high idle, at about 900 RPMS, poor fuel economy, and that oxygen sensor to come on! HELP
dude i got a 2000 ranger XLT manual. i am having a problem with a high idle too. there is no check engine light on though. Im having a tough time finding the problem. if i can figure it out i will let you know. also with the O2 sensors some times they get some carbin build up on them they can mess up. you probably checked that though.
Yeah i did check the 02, turns out it was insufficient switching, so im changing that. But im so lucky, that i have to remove my Y pipe to get the o2 off cuz its rusted and stripped. And nothing will get it out. As for the high idle, its still there, and a lil bit of a shake at idle too, i checked for vaccum leaks and everything. Still no clue.
