OK need input. i have a 2000 f350 dually 7.3 with 5" exahaust from downpipe back no muffler, 6637 mod. i want to get a programmer or something for added preformance. i plan on putting in gauges, so what type of programer would someone suggest? i don't plan on towing much, really looking for more preformance and mileage.
Some of the more popular chips (not in any particular order):
- Swamps
- DP-Tuner
- Power Hungry Performance
- Total Diesel Performance
- Diesel Innovations
- Gearhead Automotive
Those guys all offer multi-position chips. Chips are great because you can switch tunes on the fly. Many of those guys also offer a large variety of tunes, including idle tunes, towing, high altitude, race, smoke, economy, etc.
Personally I would go with a multi position unit. I have 6 different tunes and like the idea if being able to switch it. I am possibly going to get my TS Performance Chip live tuned though due to erratic and hard shift points. From what I have been told, the mileage gets better with the 75 HP and up tunes.. Not a bad thing to support those who support this forum Also you really need to make sure you get the gauges installed before or WHEN you do the chip upgrade.
I think jody at DP can reprogram your ecu for 75 dollars if I read the ad correctly. If you do not think you will be doing much switching of programs its a cheap way to get into a tune cheap and reliably. Just call him up and discuss what you want and he will do it for you.
