gas tank venting question
Hopefully this will be easy for somebody out there. The last couple of days my gas tank, 78 250 only one tank, was dripping from the sending unit. I opened up the gas cap and a large amount of air was forced out. Is the vent to release pressure in the cap or is it somewhere else? I am assuming it is in the cap but I don't want to order one if that is not the problem, mine is about 1 year old. Thanks!!!!

If your truck came with evaporative emission controls it uses a non-vented cap. With evap. emissions you have a charcoal canister on the right frame rail in the engine compartment. The fuel tank vents through this system.
If you have a non-evap system it will use a vented cap.
If you have a non-evap system it will use a vented cap.
