I have a 1997 Ford F250 4x4 7.3 Diesel w/208,590 miles. About 6months ago will coming to a stop the go pedal lost all power and the truck reverted back to idle mode as well as the check engine like came on and the overdrive switch blinks OFF. I pumped the go pedal several times and came to a stop. When I took off the go worked fine but the truck seemed like it was in 2nd or 3rd gear from a dead stop. After a few mins it went back to normal. So time went on with this happening a few more times until about a month ago. It started doing this same thing everytime I stopped. So after reading many many threads on the this site I replaced the TPS(throttle position sensor). The go pedal seemed to function properly and a few hours after I replaced the TPS it did one more time and has not done it again (yet).
So talking to a mechanic he suggested to replace the IVS(idle validation switch). Again after many many read threads it seems you can't just buy this sensor it comes with the whole pedal assembly which is over 500.oo dollars at factory.
So does anybody know where to purchase the sensor or pedal assembly at a reasonable price.
One more thing what about rear weel center caps for a 4x4 hub with 8 lugs. I need one possibly two depending on which ones they are. I have one with the Ford in blue and on ethat is solid chrome with the Ford in chrome.
I'd check the VSS also. Vehicle Speed Sensor, located on top of the rear diff. Pull it out and wipe it down if it's dirty, also check the wiring for it for damage.
Pretty cheap sensor to replace and can cause problems like the ones you've had.
