Hey fellas! This is my first diesel V8! I'm loving it so far, but I have a question about the cat delete. I have an '06 4x4 6.0 and I live in Texas. I was wondering if the truck is new enough to require an emissions test on inspection, and if it makes it too loud if I lose it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!
here in texas deallas/tarrent area its just a safty. brakes, tires, lights. diesel are pretty quite at idle with a stright pipe. they sound like really big vacuum cleaners.
theres 2 schools of thought on that. one is you will lose some bottom end power, I find that true to a point. not to bad on the stock pipe.
you will drop the egt temps this is true as well.
not being rude but its a truck and any hopes of milage were posted on the windersticker. if you dont have or have not seen one its not stated. mine is 16-18 right now. Im light on the pedal and cruise arounf 1800 rpm and keep out of the pedal so the boost gause reads 3-5 psi.
claims about economy very greatly and noone has any real proof of what will happen.
Thats cool man. I'm not complaining about mileage at all. I got 19 mpg's on the last tank i had. I was all highway though. I was just wondering why it was so popular..
So yall also recommend putting the muffler delete on? I'm a huge fan of the straight pipe sound, but my wife hated my Cummins with the 4inch straight pipe. Will the Powerstroke make the same noise? All I have ever owned was Dodge in the past...

I've heard Cummins straight piped and trust me the 6.0 sounds way way way better straight piped than any Cummins! I ran a straight pipe for about 6 months but it was to much droning while towing! Driving around town the straight pipe setup was nothing unless you go WOT! Then it sounds awesome!
