casting numbers
Hi guys. This is an excellent spot for getting info on 351m's. I have an 'm' that I have taken apart recently, on the block back by the oil pressure sender hole is 3 sets of numbers cast into the block. The first is 8C13, which I believe is the date code. The second is to the right and kind of in front of the sender hole, it is 25. The third is to the right of the sender hole and is 102. I have tried searching but have had zero luck, does anyone know what these other 2 numbers mean? I'm not dying to know but my curiosity is killing me. Thanks a bunch and keep up the good work.

I have the number 25 and also 102 and i don't know. 8C13 is the casting date code 1978 march 13.
You also have engine built date code in the front right beheind the cover plate and block id on the right, close to the starter.

Thanks, I'll be looking at it further in a little while. Its a 351m that I got from a guy for $50.00, he thought it was seized, it isn't. I'm thinking of building it into a 400, since there is lots of info about it on here and it sounds like an easy upgrade, meantime the 351m in my '79 f250 4x4 works just fine. I see your in New Brunswick, what part? I'm originally from just west of Fredericton.

My 400FMX block has the 102 cast in the same location. If you look at enough blocks, you will see the 102 is moved to a couple of different locations but still cast at the oil press. sending unit pad in the back.
