my 87 2.9 bii has been running very rough at steady throttle. when it idles or at WOT it runs fine. so i pulled the engine codes. after replacing the egr solenoid and egr pressure switch i am still getting a code 25. my haynes book doesnt even show a code 25. anyone know what this code is or how to fix it? thank you for any help!

Not sure why you're getting this code, is it in the first group or second group of codes when you do a KOEO - or is this a KOER code?

 

thanks for the info. i think it was at KOER. but no pinging and running fine now. just gotta do something bout the tranny now. no reverse and forward gears getting worse.

 

Sounds like it's time for a heavy duty rebuild and the addition of a good external transmission fluid cooler. There's a parts upgrade kit available to go along with the 'standard' rebuild kit that makes quite a difference. Have you checked your fluid and fluid level? Have you drained the transmission and dropped the pan? You'll know for sure what's going on if the fluid level is correct and there's a bunch of clutch friction material in the pan....
