I just rebuilt the 4.9 in my 86 f150 and when I went to bolt the new engine mounts that I picked up at Auto Zone to the block, the passenger side mount didn't fit. The top arm(?) was too long. This isn't the first time that a part I purchased didn't fit one of my vehicles. I bought a fuel pump for my 69 Mercury Montego with a 351w and it didn't fit either. The bolt holes were drilled too wide on the flange. Needless to say, I will not be buying parts from Auto Zone anymore. Any one else have any parts buying nightmares they care to share?
A.Z. is the cheapest of the cheap. What do you expect? You get what you pay for.
If we all BOUGHT AMERICAN, then our neighbors would have jobs and money to buy things from our employers, creating job security for us. Funny how that works.
the autozone here in illinois where i live is so damn bad i stopped buying parts altogether until an o'riely's opened up. i junkyarded it on everything. the manager was a mexican lady who thought i needed parts that i never asked her for. she would recommend things i should buy for problems i didnt have right in the middle of me explaining what vehicle to punch into the computer.and at the time i had an 85 f150 with a 460 and a78 f150 with a 390. two trucks with motors that didnt come in them from the factory. talk about a headache.
I've had so many problems with parts from Autozone I won't go there anymore. Their parts are cheap because they're junk! I recently looked at buying some parts thru the sponsor site but ultimately went with rockauto.com. Great prices, multiple manufacturers to choose from and got my parts in 2 days!
Yeah I've seen their ads for a while too, but finally decided to check out their site and they have alot of parts in stock! They had the same brand motormounts for my truck that Advance Autoparts had, but at half the price!! I did have to pay shipping but even with that added on it still beat Advance's price! I've only ordered from them the one time but so far it's a big thumbs up
i looked at their site a while back and the layout was weird, like opening windows folders, but it seemed like they had their $h!? together, i just didn't need anything
I have had so many problems with autozone that i stopped shopping there. For example, i ordered a manual stering box for a 84 f250. Well after i got my part and checked for fit, well it fot the power steering on the bronco II, but not the 250, hell it wasnt even manual. Never did get it straitened out, ended up going to LMC to get it, and that only took one try.
