OK guys,
You all have helped me alot here is another one. 351M will run hot without heat output from heater in colder weather and will give me fits in summer time if I drive it for very long. It does have A/C, condensor is mounted, but not operational yet. I ran cooling system cleaner through it on the original radiator and made a woopsie while working on front of truck, so new radiator now. I made a complete shroud and mounted 2 - 12" electric fans on it spaced from radiator about 1". Newer 180 degree thermostat. The only thing I didnt change is the water pump. Could it be comprimised someway inside that it wouldnt move enough water. The temp gauge on dash shows block is right temp, but no heat from vents. If I shut off fans it will get too warm and has vented coolant. Thanx guys
Have you checked to make sure coolant is flowing through the heater core? If everything is working corectly you should be able to drive on the highway with the fans off and not overheat, only using the fans when driving slowly. You might consider installing an aftermarket temp guage so you can tell with more accuracy what temp you are operating at.
I worked on hot water heating systems in schools and hospitals for many years. My biggest enemy was air bubbles in the pipes. The air bubble would stop the flow completely. Can you hear air bubbles in your heater core ??? I can in mine, I just got done filling the system. I will need to get that air out.
