Looks like no...here is the 2007 warranty. New car warranty is only 3/36.
Emissions warranty goes to 8/80 only for certain parts like the catalytic converter, etc. If you can fit "fuel gauge" into this category somehow, just maybe...
Eligible Under Provisions Of New Vehicle Limited Warranty Coverage And Emissions Warranty Coverage
IMPORTANT: Warranty coverage limits/policies are not altered by a TSB. Warranty coverage limits are determined by the identified causal part.
As I read this, I interpret this to mean that if the part is considered as an emissions system component, it may be covered. One would have to identify all the covered and non-covered parts in the emissions system or otherwise be prepared to pay the bill.
In my mind, in a inaccurate fuel level indicator is a safety issue and should be covered as long as the passive restraint system or emissions system is covered which clearly spans way beyond the bumper to bumper or any power train coverage would.
Well thats what confuses me.....the tsb says emissions warranty coverage
The way I read it, the basic warranty is 3/36, emissions defect warranty is 3/36, emissions performance warranty is 2/24. The 8/80 emissions warranty is only for certain itemized parts like the cat, ECU, TCM, and "onboard emissions diagnostic device". I don't read fuel gauge into these itemized parts at all, but you should absolutely work with the dealer to see if they can make it a warranty item. The TSB's cover stuff under warranty only while that warranty is in effect.
I got a new pair of cylinder heads on the 4.6 in my van at 42k miles--the TSB said it was covered under the basic vehicle warranty, and I was lucky enough to have bought a Premium Care warranty out to 60k miles. So I paid $100 for a new pair of heads (whew).
