C6 only slipping at partial throttle

C6 only slipping at partial throttle
The c6 in my 77 f150 4x4 with a 400 slips only during normal acceleration in gears 1st into 2nd. But if I hammer it from a dead stop it acts fine. I tried changing fluid and filter also tried some lucas stop slip to no avail. I am leaning towards vacuum mod valve but unsure. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

check the kick down rod that goes up to the carb ,with the motor shut off push down on the rod from the top & it should pop back up every time,pull the modulator diaphram off the tranny & account for the little rod in there & the actual modulator valve is in front of the diaphram & rod,tug on the spool valve with needle nose pliers to make sure it is not stuck in there,it should slide back & forth freely,you can pull it right out if you want to clean it,nothing else will fall out except fluid,Gigger
