GMCA Insurance will NOT insure my 78 because of the lift! They wanted me to use there sister co Progressive. I was in an accident were we both had Progressive,They were unfair in there payout.
I got Allstate. They dont care what kinda lift I got on my truck then again they've only ever seen one of my cars and I've had six or so insured through them. Of course I just got liability.
I'll have to see what my buddy has, his '86 F250 has a 6in lift on it and as far as I know its insured.
Ive got Progressive on both my 79s and its roughly $90/month for minimum coverage.
One thing to point out.....NO insurance company will give you much for a 70s Ford EVEN if you have full coverage. They'll give you fair market value which is usually less than $1000. IF any work has been done to it maybe something like Haggerty or similar would be a good choice.
I got a 69 Boss 302 and a 55 T-bird both insured for $700/yr through Haggerty.
You could always get the truck appraised and take that paper in and tell them you want the truck insure at that value.
Buddy of mine had a '87 20th anniv Cougar with a 5.0HO swapped in and bunch of other stuff done too it, well someone rear ended him and his insurance company was only gonna give him fair market on a base model v6 which aint squat. His car was one of 5000 built and had every single option plus it was a 5.0 to begin with. He told them he wouldnt take their offer and to try and find another one like his and see what they go for.
i have allstate, and ive always liked them. theyve never given me any problems. ive heard safe auto is terrible though. i dont trust anyone i cant meet an agent in person.
