I found this for sale, it sure looks like a neat truck. It's a 1961 supposedly al original except someone painted it a few years back and put on those aftermarket wheels they also robbed the front bumber and winch, but it still has the PTO. Anyway my question is Any idea how many long bed stepside 4x4's were made around this time?

A Stepside is (gasp) a Chevrolet!
1961 F100 4WD FLARESIDE Pickup production figure: 2,468.
This is the only production figure available for this particular model truck. There is no way to discover how many were short or long beds, and etc.
Ford threw the original records away years ago, so what you see is all that's available.
My shop foreman just did a complete frame off restoration of a 61 F250 4x4. It was appraised this week at over $40k. The appraiser said he had to market to compare it to so the value could easily rise.

An appriasal is one thing, finding someone willing to part with 40 grand is another.
IMO, whoever appraised that truck for 40 grand has scheiss for brains.
There is no way that truck is worth anywhere near that much...especially considering the state of today's economy.

Personally I would pay $40k for it since I know who did the restoration. There are very few of these trucks around and this truck is original. All #s on it match. There are no aftermarket reproduction parts on it. Its all OEM. It is immaculate.

What's original about it? Prolly very little after undergoing a frame off restoration.
A vehicle is only original once, when it rolls off the assembly line. Once anything is changed, restored, whatever, it's no longer original.
What Ford car or truck of this vintage is considered numbers matching? None.
Numbers matching is a GM thing.
I wonder where the fellow found all the NOS Genuine Ford Parts he claimed he used in his frame off restoration?
I search for obsolete parts every day here on FTE for members. So...I know how difficult it is to find NOS parts for these trucks. Over 98% of the parts are obsolete.
Thanks Number Dummy, but I forgot to mention it is a 3/4 ton truck. Any numbers still availiable on them? All of them woulb be ling bed so that should be a more reliable figure anyway. Thanks again, Seth

1961 F250 4WD Flareside Pickup production figure: 1,671.
This is all that's available, because Ford threw all the records that pertained to 1966 and earlier cars and trucks into the trash years ago.
Ford planned on doing the exact same thing in the late 1980's with records that pertained to 1967/79's.
Kevin Marti, a Mustang nut from Phoenix AZ found out about Ford's plans and got ALL of it.
Marti provides this 1967/79 info to everyone...for a fee. This is known as a Marti Report.
Since FoMoCo has no 1967/79 info any longer, when they get a request from someone for the specific build sheet for their vehicle, they have to get the info from Marti.
I have a 1962 F-250 4x4 Flareside Custom Cab with 76,000 miles on it. Unrestored with a 262 6 cylinder and 4.56 gears on posi's. I bought it from the original owner and was told the truck has the West Coast Dealer Option, PTO Winch and Tool Box.
Do you mind disclosing the price? You could PM if you do not want it out on the web. I paid $5,000.00 for my truck 18 years ago when it had 50,000 miles on the clock.
Also, does any one know the production numbers for the 1962?
I would post better photos but my posting rules are set for "may not post attachments". Sucks.
Thanks,
Mike
