I have read several of the V&B code spring updates, however, most appear to lift the front end up quite a bit above factory. I believe im may be in need of new springs, However, I dont want to have additional lift (beyond original factory height. I show about 1.5" between bump stop and springs when stopped (not sure what factory original gap was). Would I be better off doing a Add a Leaf to beef up the original springs, or what would my options be to get a little bit heavier springs. I have a new set of rancho Adjustable shocks to go on, but would like to do this all at once, with my shocks, springs, ball joints, and brakes (expensive upgrades). Any ideas would be great.....
If you cannot tolerate the lift by changing to better springs, or the added lift from add-a-leafs, the only option I can think of to get a better suspension up front is to go to a local spring shop to have what you want made.
I guess I just dont want to go beyond factory much (leveling front wouldnt bee too bad, but dont want to mess with rear also....My issue is I dont know if springs are bad, where the front end should be height wise etc.....I dont want to take it to dealership, and dont have a local dealer that I can drop in and ask. I have a clunking noise on bumps under driver side. It could be Springs hitting bump stop, sway bar or end link bushings or ball joints.....I still have to jack it up when i get a day off and weather permits, hopefully then i can check play in front tires, and see where springs stop flexing etc. I would use add a leaf, except if the originals are bad, then its not going to be worth it i dont believe...just a temp bandaid. Just looking to see iff they are sagging what options I might have.
I understand the issue with making sure your new springs are not too much.
I also need to change out my front springs with the "V" codes. I measured at the highest point of the Ex to the garage entrance and I had 5 inches of clearance.
Just about everything I've read says a "V" code upgrade adds about 1.5in to 2in max height increase. That's as much as I can handle.
See what works for you.
P.S. with less than 2in of lift in the front, normal front shocks are fine but more than that and you should order special ones.
Guys, feel free to correct as needed. I'm just getting involved.
After some other searches, my springs are actually on the passenger side right in line with stock C springs, the driver is .5" low but that seems to be the pattern with these.....Im going to work on some other stuff and then worry about the springs.
