35's with leveling kit only?

I've perused some of the older posts, but I wanted to get some community feedback to a direct question --

Can I put 35 inch tires on my '05 SCrew 4x4 with just the Autospring 2 1/2" leveling kit that I have on it? (without problems)

The factory tires are just about done, so I can now "justify" buying new rims and tires. I'm thinking about staying with the 18" rim (although I'd be willing to consider a different size if there is an advantage.) Tirerack doesn't make this easy -- you can't input modifications into what it says will fit on your specific vehicle, so the tire options it gives are limited if you try to go by vehicle specific info.

On Tirerack I entered various sizes to see what has a decent selection -- and it seems like the size that approaches 35" with 1/2 dozen to choose from is 305/65/18, which from the tire conversion chart on the internet gives a final diameter of 34.6 inches. I don't really have a great handle on the differences/advantages of tire sizes -- for example, the same conversion chart shows that a 285/75/18 tire is about the same diameter. How do tires with different sidewall "heights" have the same diameter -- must be something I'm missing here.

I guess that is more than one question. I'd be interested to hear what tires sizes have worked -- or not worked -- for those with leveling kits only and no lift.

Why stock rims only? What's different about aftermarket 18" rims that wouldn't allow this?

i guess if they were the exact offset , back spacing and width as the stock ones it would work

i think it has to do with the stock ones keepin the tires in the wheel wells
the perfect spot so the 35's dont rub the A-arms or the fenders
