I towed my trailer today and did some "research". At 60 mph out of od, 2650 rpm, boost 10, egt 900 f. In od 63 mph, 1800 rpm, boost 8, egt 825f. If I dropped three mph my egt went up by 25f. So 63 in od seems to be the spot. This is while towing 8k trailer. I did not realy watch the trans temp as it did not heat up to it's high point in the twenty miles. Last time I pulled the trailer it sat at about 175f. Just thought this info would be good for some one with similar setup. Od does seem easier on the old girl.
Your numbers seem right to me. I have a 8500# 5'ver with my DP set at the 60HP tune and about 65 MPH at 1900 RPM is the spot. Even if I can get up to 2000 or so, still right in line with EGT's and MPG's.
What kind of miliage are you getting? Right now I am not using my DP, it is set aside for a reburn. These numbers are only with air and exhaust mods, ant J Woods trans.
Summer driving at my altitudes (5000 + feet elevation) around 13-14 MPG towing a load and not trying to pass everyone on the highway. I haven't towed with this trailer at sea-level yet but with my old 5'ver (5000#) I could get about 15MPG.
That's all I get normally not towing. The best I have ever gotten was 18 on a road trip in 80E. But per tank average with city and highway driving is right at 15 mpg.
Those are summer blend fuel numbers as well. I just filled up lately and got about 11 MPG but that's nothing but city driving empty with some 4x4 usage due to crappy weather and 2x4 usage with the hubs engaged. I can't crack 17 MPG empty summer with my 80e anymore. Now I have not done my any in-tank mods so I've tried to be consistent with my fillups also... But, I think you have the sweet spot nailed for the best economy and power. I do love blowing by a Duramax chebby towing on the open road at times. I love my extra umph of my DP.

Just what are the in tank mods and what do they do for you? I keep hearing the term in tank mod but I don't know what they are.
Yea ,was talking about trimming off the plastic tubes that protrude inside the tank so he can get a more consistent fill instead of trapping air and having it spit at him.. Everytime i get fuel, if i tried. I can squeeze in way more fuel if i try and i am patience.
1800 to 2000 rpm is my spot. 67mph.. 10k trailer. in OD.. 12MPG.. rough average.
Empty 2000 rpm on the thruway all the way home from Florida, repeatably. 22-24 mpg.
no dp "YET"
I found my sweet spot when towing is 2200-2400 rpms in 4th gear at about 60 mph. At that speed my egts run 700-800*, boost around 12 psi, and I run 12.5- 14 mpg. If I shift to OD, egt goes up about 150-200* , boost drops below 10 psi, and fuel economy drops to about 10 mpg. These figures are with a manual tranny.
Below are two of the most common loads I pull. The travel trailer, sold it last summer, had the aerodynamics of a brick. Anything over 60 mph and fuel economy sucked. The flatbed with hay I generally cross the scale at 22k. Anything below 2000 rpms, the egt's would go way up and didn't have any power.
I usually try to stay around 65 mph while towing my travel trailer - Here in Missouri and Illinois where its pretty flat grades I put the od on & roll. Try to stay under 2000-2200 rpm & I can get maybe 12 - 13 mpg.
This week, towing a 7x14 enclosed trailer, hauling a 03 1300 Busa,a 06 1200 Harley, and a 650 shadow, going from central Carolina to Daytona beach(bike week),keeping an average speed of 75 to 77,I managed to get about 10 MPG(coming back was a little less than that due to a super duty with a Banks decal on the side of his rig catching up with me..i had to pass him back a couple times...)Some of that was back road/city driving.Oh yeah,i was towing in the 60 tow setting the whole time.Thoughts....
