Not now but you might later, and that would be an expensive re-fit.
Just something to think about.
But if SC decides to impliment emission laws, I would be "grandfathered in" wouldn't I? I couldn't see them telling thousands of people that they all of the sudden need to do all this expensive work on their vehicles that they can't afford just to pass emissions. And what about 7.3s? There's no way they would ever pass today's emission standards (for the states that do check) no matter what kind of work you do on them? Would they tell those owners they have to buy a new vehicle?
That's not how I have been seeing it. In California and other states they have implemented the diesel smog checks for vehicles under 14000 lbs(I think that is the weight). They check them for compliance with the equipment that came with the truck new. Most are not even testing the exhaust. If you do not pass the visual you will have to put it back to stock. I kept my parts and it will take a half a day to put it back to "sneaky look" stock.
im curious to get feedback on pro's and cons of the EGR delete kits you guys have used??? I need to by something soon and i dont know whats good...
ditto i need the same. i was looking at the liberator performance kit, but not sure about the up pipe if i want it aluminum or if it is better to use a modified stock unit, also what is the parts kit to rebuild oil cooler while i'm in there?

No you wouldn't be geandfathered in. It's just like seat belts or catalack converters. If your truck was manufactured with out one then you don't have to have it, but if it was then it has to be there. This wouldn't be like the window tint thing. Where if your car was made before the law you could have it as dark as you want. Your truck orginaly had the egr system so if they started test emissions then yes they could and most likely will tell you to put it back in (if they noticed it was gone hince the sneaky look). That would be the whole reason behind doing the emission test is stop people from tampering with emissions and make the ones that already have put it back. They don't care how much it is going to cost you did it so you can undo it. I mean honistly messing with emission stuff is not leagle anyways. I don't do state Inspections anymore, but I would venture to say that, even without emission test, if a shop doing a state inpection. Notcied the egr has been tampered with they could fail you and you could get a big fine from the state for it. Do I think this would happen? No, but it is possible.
They started smog checks for Diesels here in Nevada a few years ago. You had to know it was coming since on a warm summer day in Las Vegas you can cut the smog with a knife. Anyway every couple years it gets a little more strict and the fines get higher. This stuff starts in one state and they all join in sooner or later since they make money from it. I worry a little bit every time I go to get my smog and all I did was the blockoff.

You only have to look at California to know what emmission regulations lie ahead for your state. Looking back, other states have adopted epa regulations shortly after California put them in place. As it stands states that presently have annual safty inspections such as Texas, can threaten inspection stations if they fail to be thorough with visuals, fines and license suspension will result. The results would be overnight without changing or passing a new regulation. The law is already in place in all states that sets stiff fines for monkeying with origional equipment smog devices.
