Is there a difference between the frames on the 87-90 and a 90-96 F-250? Also is there a difference between the F-150 and the F-250 from behind the cab back? I would like to know if I could cut a 92 F-150's frame right behind the cab and use use it to replace one on a 87 F-250.
I don't know about the rest of the frame, but the transmission cross member and support brackets from a '95 F150 fit the mounting holes in my '87 frame.
the early 80's (i think 80-82) had what was called the swiss cheese frame. its full of holes. my father has that frame on his f-250 plow truck and has never had a problem, other guys avoid them or plate the frames.
wait what?!?!? you're going to cut the frame section to replace it with a different rear frame section?!?! i just have to ask why. is the 96 damaged? if its just rust or the axle, they will bolt right on. cutting the frame is a HUGE job. it needs to be z'd in, properly aligned, and you'll always have a weak spot in the frame, and you'll be dealing with heat seep problems, leading to potentially brittle portions. assuming they're both long beds, all the parts should interchange.
