I have a 94 f-150 that i would like to put new tires on. Does anybody know what the max size tire is i can fit on my truck without lifting it? or perhaps a cheap diy way to lift it some?
31's are a good size for a stock height 150. There really is no "cheap" lift, and to be honest, without changing gearing, you won't like the larger tires.
In either scenario, you could lift the rear with some corresponding height blocks and new u-bolts.
Personally, I went for the springs, since they're the same amount of work as putting in the spacers. The added benefits of a firmer ride and the ability of the springs to handle the weight of a plow made up my mind as well.
I say 31 10.50. I didn't see it mentioned if its 2wd or 4wd. If its 4wd you can run 32 11.50. The only rubbing you might have is the radius arm behind the tire, but thats only at full lock and at slow speeds anyway.
a cheap lift and level is 2" drop shackles then a body lift there is a lift and level
*dont talk bad about my lift idea everyone already knows that "everyone" hates body lifts*
as far as tire size stock height uhm with the 87-91 u can get 32's *33's will fit but if its 2wd and u go over a hard bump u may need new tires and fenders*
idk about the 92-96/97SD the front wheel wells or sumthin is different
I'm curious though why go through the trouble of lowering the rear 2 inches and then lift the truck 3 inches? Its nearly the same thing to just get leveling coils for the front.
In my opinion body lifts are not the way to go for any vehicle.
I think that Ford should have included the adjustable alighment cam bushings too.
I still don't see using lowering shackles if the goal is lifting the truck. If I was to ever to it to a truck, I would just put a body lift on it and thats it. Look at 6cylBill's truck. It has a body lift. I think if it had lowering shackles in the rear it would be high in the front.
idk the rears on flare sides arent *** high like the style sides and the body lifts dont level the suspensions and the 2" drop shackles will level the rear with the front
I have 31 10.50's all around on a 2wd 302 without gears and it runs/drives great. I added the spring bumps from autozone to level it out front. For looks tho, it didn't rub before.
What do you mean spring bumps from A'zone. If it is those twist in things that go between the coils take them out and throw them in the trash. They are not safe at all. First they can cause weak points in the spring and secondly they can shoot out and can really hurt someone or something.
