Question Axle Code 47
I saw one other post on this from last month, but it didn't help me too much. Wondering if anyone can help me i.d. my rear axle on my 77 F100. The VIN says it is a 47 (which I can't find anywhere). The rear axle numbers say= 20677A and underneath it is 751400. It's a 4900 GVW with a 117" wheelbase. Does this make sense to anyone?

There is no axle code 47 listed in the parts catalog.

However, the closest match is axle code 46 which decodes to a Dana 44 rear axle, 2.72 ratio. Axle code 46 was only used in 1977.

It's not a 44- I am sure of that. The pumpkin is the wrong shape. It's pretty interesting, though.
